WITH 136 seats, the Congress is headed for one of its biggest victories in Karnataka. It is also a huge win for the party nationally, which has only won Himachal Pradesh since the 2019 Lok Sabha poll loss. In terms of both electoral weight as well as symbolic, for being the only state held by the BJP in the south, Karnataka is a big victory for the Congress. The party will hope to also have put behind the criticism often thrown at it for not fighting long or hard enough, having crafted its Karnataka campaign carefully and strategically.
